Information security functions in Web Navigation

Today, many people depend on the Internet for almost everything. Whether shopping, looking or address, social media, pay bills and more. Basically it uses for everything, but what the user base does not know is that the browser May be using the Internet is not secure. Many people buy a laptop, plug the power cord, connect to the Internet and are in no way sailing by the World Wide Web. They make no security settings for your browser, simply by default. What I do not know is that they are leaving their web browser vulnerable to attacks and exploits. That were entered, I will discuss the different ways that web browsing has become safer, the different forms of attacks that are being used to attack users. I will also talk about the different web browsers and various security features they offer. Finally, I will give my opinion on which browser I would recommend to my friends, family and colleagues. By the end of this article, readers should have a thorough understanding security and web browser vulnerabilities / exploits.

What is a web browser, and what makes it safe? According itsecurity.com, a browser website as "a software application that allows users to view and interact with the web page content such as texts, graphics or other material. A web browser makes access to the Internet, literally a click of a button (perhaps a double click if using Windows). So what makes browsers web? Is it the small block you get into the top corner of the address bar, or is the Web site certificate appears green? Do you have the security patches and plug-ins really help to ensure users' web browser? In most cases, security patches and security updates plug-ins can help ensure web browser, but it still does not mean that it is clearly outside the exploits and attacks.

Writers, Dübendorf M. Frei and May conducted Olimann A recent study and found that "approximately 45% of people surfing the Internet were not using the most secure version of your web browser." This is an amazing number, when you think that half of Internet users are not using secure versions of your browser and the number of pirates out there taking advantage new users. Users who do not know what a web browser such as software and security patches to the needs that are vulnerable to attacks and exploits. Although most Web browser attacks are "not trusted" web sites, now the attackers are exploiting poor security coding, which have been very successful putting at risk some trusted websites. One of the ways hackers do this is by adding some scripts in the source code of the website. A script not change the appearance of any manner or form. These scripts can do several things, including a redirect to another site, monitoring and storage cookies and more. When a user gets redirected to another Web page could be dangerous download programs / apps to your computer without knowing it. According itsecurity.vermont.gov / Threat / web_attacks, said, "Panda Labs in April 2008, a computer security and anti-virus publisher, announced that more than 280,000 web sites had been altered to redirect computers to malicious websites that attack in a variety of different ways. So what makes it really difficult for the user half (used Internet Explorer is not updated) in order to be able to distinguish between trusted and untrusted website. And hackers are not just stopping there, are becoming better and more advanced. They start over to new media such as hacking, smart phones, not just the average desktop or laptop. Some other ways hackers are exploiting some web browsers are internal attacks, bots, spyware and web application exploits.

So know that I bet you were wondering What do you have to do to ensure your web browser. Well first, maybe make the switch from Internet Explorer to any browser, except Netscape. Just this step alone could help with the web browser security. But if you do not want to do to change or if you have a web browsers, you always can keep your browser updated with the latest patches and plug-ins. And not only maintain your current browser, you have to keep your operating system updated with the latest updates. Antivirus software must be constantly updated, and applications such as MS Office, iTunes and others, also must be frequently updated with latest version. Make sure you have a firewall installed. Installs a firewall between your CPU and the Internet can help limit the attacks and traffic entering and leaving your network. In addition, it would have to modify the settings of your browser security. This may be one of the easiest things to do, you can disable Java, JavaScript, and some ActiveX controls. Also, edit your privacy, popup blocker and content settings. All these measures and the changes I've said above can help ensure your web browser and secure the overall experience on the Internet.

Now is the time to evaluate some of the web browsers. I will evaluate 5 web browsers (Firefox, Chrome Google, Opera, Internet Explorer and Safari), which I will review some background and some security features that each browser can implement. First, lets start with Mozilla Firefox. Mozilla Firefox is a Free Software project, offering customizable themes, characters and accessories. Given that Firefox is open source, means that online security researchers are always involved in fixing bugs and security. Mentioned on your page web, the user must keep your version of Firefox to date. That automatically tells you when it is necessary to update them and also suggests that users update their plug-ins with its new tools to detect obsolete plug-ins. Firefox allows users to make private waterway, which is really effective if you want to do online banking using a responsibility shared / public computer.

Then we will see in Google Chrome, which uses Webkit design and framework of the implementation. He does it to download updates from phishing and malware. Multilevel security features. Chrome also has a feature called navigation private, incognito, which prevents the browser from the website know that you were leaving. Things like, prevention of browser history and cookies.

Opera is a web browser and an Internet suite. It has a lot of features and can run on a variety of platforms including Windows, Mac OS X, Linux, FreeBSD and Solaris, and the iPhone. Safety features include the Opera, data encryption on any TLS or SSL 3, elimination of private data including control of the blacklist of phishing or malware.

Now is the time to look at the infamous Internet Explorer. Most of us know now that IE is installed on each PC, basically, now, and is the most used web browser on the market. Why so many people use Internet Explorer? It has been know to have many problems with its previous versions. So what makes this new version better? Microsoft says that IE 8 has a new way to protect against phishing and malware, and new filter Smart Display does that. Cross Site Script also implements filtering, which detects malicious code on websites that may be compromised. And also implements navigation private. Since IE is the most used web browser, it is common for their errors and defects are detected faster and easier for hackers, because it is used more.

Finally, we will review Safari. Apple developed Safari. It says on the Apple website that Safari has 150 features, and some of the security features are, phishing protection, secure downloads, parental controls, private browsing, popup blocking, encryption and standards-based secure authentication, just to name a few.

Now, after listing all of those features of the five web browsers, I know your question we all sound like they are in the same thing. The fact of the matter is that the list of characteristics were very similar, but for me there is clearly a better browser. In one of my senior class we did a lab, which consisted of four of these browsers on a typical attack "man-in-the-middle. And when the attack he was passing or failing was clear that Firefox was correct every time. Dio safety warnings and is described by giving notice, allowed the user you can view the certificate and not let you connect to the web page unless you click "yes, I understand the risk."

So I hope This article motivates the users web browser, either with a desktop computer, laptop or smartphone, for a second and make sure 're surfing the Internet safely. And not only sure to change some settings sometimes take a different exchange rate, perhaps even to a different web browser. There are many hackers out there that are finding new ways to exploit beginners and intermediate users using web browser vulnerabilities. So make sure that you upgrade your web browser and operating system
